Anthracite coal market in India continues to be sluggish.
Offers are firm and propensity for importing among Indian buyers has almost dried up.
According to a prominent importer, import offers have not undergone any change from the last assessment, at USD 91-92/MT, CFR India.
Availability of low priced alternate fuels has eroded the tendency among Indian buyers to opt for the relatively high priced Anthracite coal. Prices of other forms of coal and Pet coke have gone remarkably cheaper in domestic as well as international markets.
A few market participants spoken to by CoalMint said that there was no improvement in demand.
No import consignment has landed at any of the Indian ports during the 1sttwo weeks in Feb’16, according to SteelMint Research.
