SAIL Receives Mixed Response for Export Tender of 10,000 MT HR Plates

On 1 Jun’16, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) had floated a global tender for the export of prime mild steel hot rolled plates of 5,000-10,000 MT quantity.

The material was of ASTM A36 grade or equivalent, shipbuilding quality with size ranging between 10-63 mm. The bids for the same were opened till 7 Jun’16.

Response

The company has managed to receive participation of three parties for its export tender. The bids were received at USD 380/MT, FoB Vizag basis. But, the expected price bid by the company was around USD 400/MT, FoB Vizag. Since, the bid received was lower than the expected price, company didn’t conclude the deal and the tender remained unawarded.

Last export tender failed to receive bids

On 10 May’16, the company had floated last global an export tender for 5,000-15,000 MT prime mild steel hot rolled plates. The company had failed to receive response for its global export tender because the tender had not received the expected price quotation from the interested parties. However, prior to this, company’s 10,000 MT plates export tender floated on 16 Apr’16 was concluded at USD 420-425/MT FOB, India.
