SAIL keeps Oct prices unchanged; freight to rise by Rs 350-400/t over service tax

India's major producer
of flat products, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has kept prices same for October
though increase in freight prices due to service tax hike, will increase the
retail price by Rs 500 per tonne, reported sources.

“Buying of HR coil
has improved from last week that’s enforced rollover of price. Price will
correct if import coil rise from Russia and China” said trader based in Mumbai

HR Coil (Rourkela and
Ludhiana) is being traded at Rs 40500+VAT per tonne. Increase in freight from
Rourkela to Ludhiana, and Delhi by Rs 350-400 per tonne was not seen but trader
believes in increase in retail price by Rs 500 per tonne next week.
