SAIL has increased the discount on TMT bars sold from distributors to boost sales.
‘Prices have been revised on account of poor sales, 8MM TMT Ex-Bhilai is quoted Rs 48400+Vat’ said a SAIL authorized distributor.
Prices of TMT Ex Bhilai , ED included VAT extra are: –
8MM – Rs 48400
10MM – Rs 47400
12MM – Rs 46900
16MM – Rs 47400
20-32MM – Rs.46400
Prices were corrected as lower offers from secondary manufacturers had widened the price gap between primary & secondary players, he added.
Steel demand normally picks up after monsoon as construction activities gain then. The revision in prices are done in order to get demand before the market starts to revive, said market participant.
However SAIL officials refused to comment on prices and the discount structure.
