S. Korea: Stainless steel finished flat imports surge 18% m-o-m in Aug’24

In Aug’24, South Korea experienced a notable rebound in imports of SS finished flat products, surging 18% to 67,040 t, up from 56,680 t in the previous month. China was the largest supplier, providing 27,200 t, followed by Indonesia at 15,813 t and Vietnam at 8,025 t. This increase was driven by the availability of cheaper Chinese imports. Meanwhile, export volume of SS flats saw a 3% dip in Aug’24.
