Russian Ferrous Scrap Export Down by 54% M-o-M in Jan’17 and Y-o-Y Up by 38%
Russia the fourth largest exporter of scrap witness a decline in its export by 54% M-o-M in Jan’17 as compared to the month of Dec’16. As per the recent trade data released by Russian Federal Customs shows that Russia exported 526,357 MT in the month of Dec’16 which dipped to 241,820 MT in Jan’17.
The largest export destination of Russian Scrap continues to be Turkey. The Russian exports to Turkey totalled 199,964 MT for Dec’16 and 90,252 MT for Jan’17 followed by Belarus and Korea.
Russian exports Y-o-Y have reportedly increased and it exported 175,732 Mt in Jan’16 and 241,820 Mt in Jan’17; an increase by 38%
Exports of Ferrous Scrap from Russia have reduced as domestic market is strong and the local mills are paying good prices and so exports from Russia are expected to stay weak in coming months.
