The 8th largest iron ore exporter of iron ore, Russia has exported around 2.31 MnT iron ore in May’17, according to the trade statistics released by Russian Customs.
Iron ore exports have witnessed a decrease of 7% M-o-M as it was 2.49 MnT in Apr’17. Compared with the numbers for the month of Apr’16 Russia’s iron ore export has seen a significant increase of 28% Y-o-Y which was at 1.81 MnT.
In May’17, the agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were recorded at 1.35 MnT, up by 21.6% M-o-M and 160% Y-o-Y compared to May’16. The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports were registered at 0.96 MnT, down by 30% M-o-M & 26% Y-o-Y compared to May’16.
Country-wise Iron Ore Exports
Russia iron ore exports were chiefly directed to China followed by Finland, UK, Turkey and Ukraine etc. in May’17.
Russian exports to China were recorded at 0.72 MnT, Finland 0.24 MnT, UK 0.19 MnT, Turkey 0.16 MnT and Ukraine 0.16 MnT etc.
