Russia: MMK reports 25% increase in crude steel output in H1 CY’21

Russian steelmajor MMK Group has released Q2 and H1 CY’21 results. Production highlights:

  • Crude steel output in H1 increased by 24.5% y-o-y to 6.70 mn t, mainly due to completion of modernisaation of its Hot-Rolling Mill 2500.
  • Steel output in Q2 was recorded at 3.4 mn t, up 3% q-o-q on strong demand and favourable market conditions.
  • Pig iron output rose by 17.3% y-o-y in H1 to 5.21 mn t, due to no overhaul of blast furnaces over these six months.
  • In Q2, pig iron output was up 2.6% q-o-q to 2.64 mn t.
