Russia is the 8th largest exporter of iron ore. It exported 1.26 MnT iron ore in Sep’17, according to the trade statistics released by Russian Customs.
Russian iron ore exports have declined by 26% M-o-M in Sep’17 as against 1.71 MnT in Aug’17. It was also down by 7% Y-o-Y in Sept’17 against 1.35 MnT in Sept’16.
However, the Y-o-Y iron ore exports from Jan-Sep’17 rose by 14% and reached 15.04 MnT against 13.2 MnT previous year same period.
An agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports were down by 41% M-o-M to 0.67 MnT in Sep’17 against 1.14 MnT in Aug’17. The Y-o-Y change depicted a rise of 73% from Jan-Sep’17 compared to previous year same period.
A non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps & fines) exports increased by 4% to 0.59 MnT in Sep’17 compared to Aug’17 which stood at 0.57 MnT. It was down by 24% Y-o-Y in Jan-Sep’17 compared to previous year.

Russian iron ore exports in Sept’17 has recorded highestiron ore exports toChina which stood at 0.49 MnT ( a hike of 133% from previous month), followed by Ukraine 0.16 MnT, Japan 0.15 MnT and Poland 0.14MnT.
