According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of 89,360 mt of Pig Iron in August this year which is similar to that in June '12. It has reduced by 24% as compared to July '12 and by 44.1% in Aug '11.
Most of the material was supplied to Ukraine (65,825 tons) which is 20.3% more in comparison to August '11. Imports from Russia has come down sharply by 73.2% to 12,020 mt from in comparison to Aug 11.
From January to June '12, 936,528 tons of Pig Iron was imported by Turkey, which is an increase of 32% as compared to Jan to Jun '11. Import price was also up by 17.9% to US$446.5/t in comparison to first eight months of last year.
