Pig Iron exports from Brazil expected to improve in February   

The ongoing festive season in Brazil has resulted in slowdown of Pig Iron exports from the country for last one month which is anticipated to improve after the mid of February.

In December 2012, 2,57,787 mt of Pig Iron was exported by Brazil at an average export price of $385/mt FOB Brazilian Port and US imported 1,78,641 mt of the total.

Exports in the last month was a 16% rise in comparison to 2,22,262 mt exported in November last year and was twice of 1,29,073 mt that was exported in December 2011.

In November 2012 and December 2011, US imported 1,84,858 mt and 97,894 mt of Pig Iron respectively from Brazil at an average export price of $401/mt FOB in November last year.
