INDIA-Odisha Steel Federation demands separate e-auction, lower base price for state based units

The All Odisha Steel Federation (AOSF) representing more than200
steel and allied industries in the state has demanded separate e-auction for state
based end user units and outside state units. In its memorandum to the steel
and mines department the federation has also demanded for reasonable base price
of iron ore in the e-auction.

“There should be
separate e-auctions for Odisha-based industries and units located outside the
state. While units outside the state will only pay commission to the state
government for the ore bought through auction, local units are contributing in
many ways like payment of taxes and employment generation. So outsiders should
be charged higher price.” said PL Kandoi, president, All Odisha Steel
Federation (AOSF) after attending the stake-holder meeting on e-auction.

“The There should be monthly e-auctions on
pre-fixed dates.Each  consuming  unit
should  be  tied
up  with  each
mine  of  nearest
location.Monthly quantity of each unit be fixed and no one be allowed to
bid for   more than 50% quantity of his
monthly quota.  ( 2nd  50%
meant  for    e-auction ) No bidder should be allowed to
bid for 100% of any single lot. It should
be restricted to maximum 25% –
33% for each bidder.” The memorandum says.

Apart
from AOSF representatives of Odisha Sponge iron manufacturers (OSIMA) and
Eastern Zone Miners Association (EZMA) also attended the meeting.

The
steel and mines department has asked the stakeholders to submit their views
before the department within a week. The meeting was also attended by MSTC CMD
S.K.Tripathy.
