Petcoke imports into India declined remarkably by 37% in Jan’17 against Dec’16, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows. The decline in imports could be attributed to demand for the fuel getting low in the country on account of cement plants running at low rates, after demonization waning construction activities.
In Jan’17, Petcoke imports into the country were at 0.56 MnT; lower than the imports of 0.89 MnT in the previous month.

Conforming to the usual trend, the share of the imports from USA during the month was the largest in the total import mix during the month.

Among the various ports in the country, the Kandla port had handled the largest share of import traffic during the month; followed by the Mormugao and Muldwarka ports.

EXPORT
Interestingly, Reliance Industries Limited had exported 145.5 ‘000MT of Petcoke to China through the Bedi port in Gujarat during Jan’17, CoalMint Research reveals.
