- Peru, one of world’s largest copper producers, recorded production at 174,258 t in May’22, a drop of 11.2% as against May’21, as per data released by the country’s Ministry of Energy and Mines.
- The reason behind the production fall is the suspension of operations at Las Bambas mine between April to June.
- Peru’s cumulative copper production was almost stable at 898,175 t in Jan-May’22 compared to the same period last year.
