China: Iron ore prices fall on thin buying activity

On 6 July, the spot price of iron ore in China fell as buyers remained on the sidelines due to market volatility. Benchmark Fe 62% fines prices moved down by $1.95/t to $112.35/t CFR China. Even though China’s construction steel destocking seemed to be accelerating, more Chinese mills were heard placing their blast furnaces under maintenance, reducing demand for iron ore.
