Pellet Makers in Central India Slash Offers After NMDC Price Cut

Central India – Raipur based pellet makers have reduced pellet prices today. Current offers are assessed at INR 6,000/MT (ex-Raipur) for Fe 63% grade pellets. Earlier this week, no firm offers were reported. However a week ago, offers were heard to be around INR 6,200/MT (ex-Raipur).

India’s biggest iron ore producer, NMDC, announced a price cut of about 10-12% in the price of iron ore for the month of Jan’19. Market participants were expecting a price cut looking at aggressive price cuts done by Odisha miners.

After recent price cut made by NMDC, the price of Baila fines is around INR 2,560/MT and for Baila lump is around INR 2,900/MT. Prices mentioned are FoR, Royalty (15%), DMF (4.5%), NMET (0.3%), & other taxes extra.

Pellet sponge prices in Raipur have come down by around INR 1000/MT W-o-W. The current assessment is INR18,800/MT.
