India: Entire Quantity of Chrome Ore Booked in OMC E-auction

In the January round of Chrome Ore auction, OMC received a positive response, as the entire quantity of friable chrome ore received bids at an average of about 8% above the base price. This is despite the current lacklustre Ferro Chrome market.

State-owned, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) recently conducted the e-auction on 03 Jan’19, offering a total of 32,500 MT friable chrome ore. The company has offered 31,300 MT Friable Chrome Ore from South Kalapani chromite mines and 1,200 MT from Sukrangi Chromite Mines.

The bid received for the friable ores are are in the range of of INR 11,832-11,932/MT for +54% grade, INR 11,218-11,318/MT for 52-54% grade, INR 9,926-10,026/MT for 48-50% grade, INR 8,824-8,924/MT for 46-48% grade, and INR 7,939-8,039/MT for 44-46%.
