Paradip Port Coal Traffic up in April-October Period

Bhubaneswar: Paradip port thermal coal traffic has witnessed a growth of 5.50% during the April-October period of the current financial year. Similarly POL Traffic has increased by 7.96%, Coking Coal 7.71% and other Cargo traffic grew by 18.59% compared to the same period of previous year. Paradip Port has retained the second highest position in terms of Cargo handled amongst all the major ports till the end of October 2015.

A record quantity of 2.06 million tonnes of thermal coal was handled at mechanized coal handling plant during October 2015 surpassing the previous record of 2.02 million tonnes of thermal coal handled during the month of May 2015.

Overall the port trust has handled 42.50 million tonnes Cargo as compared to 40.27 million tonnes of Cargo handled during the corresponding period of the previous year. This is an increase of 5.54% over the traffic handled during corresponding period of previous year.

Paradip Port Trust has handled 6.44 million tonnes of Cargo during the month of October 2015 as compared to 5.92 million tonnes of Cargo handled during the corresponding period of the previous year with a growth of 8.64%. During October 2015, 2.45 million tonnes Cargo loaded while 3.91 million tonnes Cargo unloaded in the Port.

The average turn around time taken by a Cargo Vessel for coming to the Port till her departure from the Port after work has improved by 17.50% up to the month over the corresponding period of previous year and 2.12% over the target fixed for the year. The average Berth-day output up to the month improved by 14.19% over the corresponding period of previous year and 5.90% over the target fixed for the year.

Paradip Port Trust handled 27.20 million tonnes rail borne traffic up to the end of October-2015 as compared to 25.66 million tonnes handled during the corresponding period of the previous year with a growth of 6 percent. The Port has also handled 4.41 million tonnes rail borne Traffic during the month of October 2015 as compared to 4.19 million tonnes handled during the corresponding period of previous year with a growth of 5.25 %.

Paradip Port Trust has dispatched record numbers of 634 rakes carrying various imported Cargo from the Port during the month of October 2015 as against 573 rakes dispatched from the Port during August 2015.
