In May’24, Pakistan saw a significant increase of 37% in ferrous scrap imports at 250,734 tonnes (t), up from 182,675 t in Apr’24. Compared to May’23 (126,200 t) imports surged by 99% on a y-o-y basis. Meanwhile, over the first five months of CY’24, the total scrap imports surged by 62% y-o-y which is 1,163,090 t as compared to 717,700 t in Jan-May’23.
