OMC Chrome Ore Prices Up by 30% for Outsiders

Bhubaneswar: Chrome ore prices of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has gone up by almost 30% for outside Odisha buyers in the e-auction held on 30th of October, owing to increased demand and lower supply.

Chrome ore prices of 54+ grades for outside state quota has touched Rs.18, 954, an increase of 29.62% from Rs.14622 from the previous e-auction held on 11th September.

There were only 57000 tonnes of friable Chrome ore on offer, out of which only 17000 tones was reserved for the outside state quota.

On the other hand there has been a decline of prices in the inside state quota. The 54 grade Chrome ore has dropped to Rs.14354 against Rs.15522 in the previous e-auction.

Meanwhile, the price of 46-48 grade concentrated Chorme ore has touched Rs.11061. OMC has offered only 11000 tonnes of concentrated Chrome ore during this e-auction.

OMC had planned to auction 1 lakh tones of Chrome ore on 15th of October. But due to worker’s strike at the biggest Chrome mines South Kaliapani, it had to postpone the e-auction to 30th of October with lower amount for sale.
