Odisha issues notice to ten mines on stoppage/restricting iron ore production beyond their captive consumption

The Joda mining circle has issued notices to 10 mines to restrict their production as per their captive use till further notice. These 10 mines include Bhanja minerals, KJS Ahluwalia, Kaypee Ent, Essel mining, KN Ram, KMC, Mesco, Tata Steel, SAIL and RP Sao.

The iron ore mines which might face closure of production because of not having any mineral development industry attached to them are Bhanja Minerals, R P Sao, Essel Mining, Kalinga Mining Corporation and Kaypee Enterprise. These mines are large exporter of iron ore fines and also sell the raw material to domestic steel units.

KJS Ahluwalia, K N Ram, MISL (Mesco Steel), Tata Steel and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) were part of the 10 miners who use minerals for their plants, but they have to now restrict their output only according to their daily or monthly need till further order.

“DDM, Joda, Keonjhar has issued dated 26-10-12 to ten mine owners on stoppage of delivery and raising of ore beyond their captive consumption capacity. This is a very very serious turn for the steel sector.

Is it good or bad or worst, only time will say, since every steel industry is starving of ore and this stoppage will prove to be a last nail in the coffin, unless Government act fast to release raw-material via OMC.” said Mr Kandoi, president All Odisha Steel Federation (AOSF).
