Odisha: Iron Ore Production Up 7% in Apr’18

Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state has witnessed marginal increase in its production for Apr’18. According to the provisional data of Odisha govt. maintained by SteelMint, state’s production recorded at 9.28 MnT in Apr’18, up 7% as against 8.71 MnT in Mar’18. The figures include material type – fines, lump and concentrate.

However, the Y-o-Y production witnessed stability in Apr’18 as against Apr’17 production at 9.06 MnT.

Rungta Mines – India’s largest private merchant miner produced 2.64 MnT iron ore in Apr’18 compared to 2.36 MnT in Mar’18, up 12% M-o-M. KJS Ahluwalia recorded production at  0.92 MnT (up by more than four folds M-o-M).

Essel mining recorded an increase of 44% in Apr’18 production at 0.75 MnT as against 0.52 MnT in Mar’18. Post resumption of operations in Feb’18, Essel mining has depicted continuous increase in production on monthly basis.

Iron ore production of state-owned miner, OMC marked a sharp fall of 42% to 0.71 MnT in Apr’18 as against 1.23 MnT in Mar’18.

Tata Steel  production stood at 0.98 MnT, down 16% M-o-M as against 1.16 MnT in Mar’18.

SAIL recorded decline in iron ore production for the month of Apr’18 at 0.45 MnT, down 38% M-o-M. However, SAIL’s Barsua iron ore mine, with capacity of 3.5 MnT per annum has resumed operations on 20th May after a gap of four years, expected to bring about increase in production.

KJS Ahluwalia, Indrani Patnaik and K.N.Ram have depicted significant growth in production for the month of Apr’18. KJS Ahluwalia production stood at 0.92 MnT (up more than four folds M-o-M), Indrani Patnaik at 0.42 MnT (up more than eight fold M-o-M) and K.N.Ram at 0.19 MnT (up more than four folds on monthly basis).
