Iron ore production in India’s largest iron ore producing state – Odisha has fallen by 33% M-o-M in Nov’15. Odisha produced 5.27 MnT iron ore (excluding figures of SAIL Bolani mines) in Nov’15 against 7.81 MnT in Oct’15.
Significant drop in production was noticed in iron ore production of merchant miners. Rungta Mines’ iron ore production dropped by 28% M-o-M and stood at 1.56 MnT in Nov’15. Iron ore production of Serajuddin Mines fell considerably by 69% M-o-M and was recorded at 0.38 MnT last month.
OMC’s iron ore production increased by 29% M-o-M in Nov’15 to 0.43 MnT.
Talking about captive iron ore producers-Tata Steel produced 0.7 MnT iron ore from its Odisha mines.

In first eight months of FY16 Odisha iron ore production stood at 44.9 MnT. Rungta Mines remained the largest iron ore producer at 11.31 MnT. Other major iron ore producers in Odisha were Serajuddin Mines (7.54 MnT), Indrani Patnaik (2.82 MnT) and KJS Ahluwalia (2.19 MnT).
Note: Iron ore production figures of SAIL for the month of Nov’15 are those excluding of its Bolani mines as the figures are yet to be received.
