Odisha: Iron Ore Dispatches Up 4% in CY’18

Odisha – India’s largest iron ore producing state recorded dispatches increased by 4% to 70.87 MnT in CY’18 as against 67.94 MnT in CY’17.On monthly basis, Odisha dispatches at 6.44 MnT in Dec’18. The dispatches increased slightly on monthly basis as against 6.24 MnT in Nov’18. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of captive miners- SAIL & Tata Steel.

On yearly basis, iron ore dispatches from Odisha increased by 6% in Dec’18 as compared to Dec’17 dispatches at 6.06 MnT.

Odisha based merchant miners have reduced iron ore prices further in Dec’18. SteelMint also heard that miners have discounts on bulk quantity purchase over announced listed offers. Odisha merchant miners are looking at scaling up their iron ore production in order to utilize their remaining Environmental Clearance (EC) approved before 2020 lease expire. Therefore, miners may explore the export opportunity to de-stock their ore.

Rungta Mines iron ore dispatches increased 17% M-o-M

Odisha’s merchant iron ore miner – Rungta Mines, India’s largest private merchant miner, dispatched the iron ore at 1.53 MnT in Dec’18. The dispatch recorded an increase of 17% M-o-M against 1.31 MnT in Nov’18.

Serajuddin Mines dispatched 0.69 MnT in Dec’18, up 12% against 0.61 MnT in Nov’18. Serajuddin resumed operations at one of its iron ore blocks recently and is likely to increase its production volumes post resumption of operations at one of its blocks. The operations were suspended owing to technical issues.

Essel mining dispatches recorded stable iron ore dispatches to 0.55 MnT in Dec’18, in line with last month dispatches.

Iron ore dispatches from OMC, decreased 21% in Dec’18

OMC, state-owned miner recorded an increase in dispatches at 0.74 MnT in Dec’18 witnessed 21% down as against 0.94 MnT in Nov’18.
