Country's top power producer NTPC Ltd has called bids seeking supply of seven million tonnes imported coal for its 16 power stations across the country.
Scope of the contracts include supply of imported steam coal to NTPC at Indian ports, arranging railway rakes and delivery at power stations. Total quantity of imported coal will have to be delivered to stations in four-month period, as per delivery schedule to be given to the successful bidder by NTPC, a company spokesperson said.
While four tenders have been floated to import 1.25 million tonnes of coal each, two tenders are for importing 800,000 tonnes each and one tender is for importing 400,000 tonnes of coal.
The plants for which coal is being imported are Simhadri and Ramagundam in Andhra Pradesh; Dadri, Tanda and Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh, Rihand, Vindhyachal and Singrauli plants in Uttar Pradesh; Farakka in West Bengal; Kahalgaon in Bihar; Talcher and Kaniha in Orissa; Korba and Sipat power plants in Chhattisgarh and Mouda in Maharashtra.
