• Iron ore sourcing by within the state-based units decreased by 35%
• Outside state-based units procurement fell marginally
• Movement for exports declined by 5%
India’s largest iron ore miner, NMDC supplied 368 rakes of iron ore in Feb’18, recording a decrease of 11% as against supply in Jan’18 which was stood at 413 rakes. The miner had kept prices unchanged in Feb’18 except for a small reduction of INR 30/MT in DR-CLO. However, in Jan’18, the miner had raised prices by 22%.
C.G. based units procurement decreased by 35% in Feb’18: There was a significant decrease in the procurement of NMDC iron ore by Chhattisgarh based units by 35% from 62 rakes in Jan’18 to 40 rakes in Feb’18 by units within the state.
Procurement by outside C.G based declined marginally: The procurement by units outside C.G., decreased by 7% M-o-M to 274 rakes in Feb’18 as against 294 rakes in Jan’18.
RINL has decreased iron ore sourcing from NMDC Bailadila mines by 23% M-o-M in Feb’18 to 150 rakes as compared to 196 rakes in Jan’18. JSW Steel, Dolvi increased sourcing from NMDC up 22% M-o-M to 61 rakes in Feb’18 against 50 rakes in Jan’18.
KIOCL loaded 38 iron ore rakes from NMDC in Feb’18, up by 31% M-o-M in Feb’18.
Movement for Exports decreased Marginally: NMDC’s iron ore exports decreased by 5% in Feb’18 to 54 rakes as against 57 rakes in Jan’18. The export was a marginally lower due to the Lunar holiday in China.
