Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha has been recorded at 442,091 MT in Jan’18. It is about 4% above the production witnessed in Dec’17.
Production level by captive miners went down by 10% M-o-M. IDCOL witnessed a substantial increase of 40% on monthly basis. While all other captive miners recorded a decrease in their production in Jan’18 with Jindal Stainless and IMFA registering a shrink of 25% and 20% respectively. Balasore Alloys and FACOR also witnessed a decrease of 3% and 13% on monthly basis.
TATA Steel, one of the largest merchant miners in the country, registered a decrease of 9% M-o-M in its production in Jan’18, while OMC registered a massive increase of 187% M-o-M in its production followed by B.C. Mohanty & Sons which registered a substantial decrease of 34% M-o-M.
