Nepal’s billet imports increase by 85% m-o-m in Dec ’20

Nepal imported 126,416 t of billets in the month of Dec ’20, recording a rise of 85% m-o-m compared to 68, 409 t in Nov ’20. Billet imports, on a y-o-y basis increased by 33% y-o-y against 95,387 t in Dec ’19, according to the customs data maintained with SteelMint. Seasonal improved demand of domestic finished steel products in Nepal, has boosted Indian exports. Indian billet exports for Nepal are likely to remain strong in the coming term as a couple of renowned mills in the eastern region are packed with orders.
