Monnet Ispat & Energy, India’s one of the premier and largest Sponge iron manufacturer with an installed capacity of 0.8 MnT pa, is offering Iron ore based Sponge iron lumps (C-DRI) of 80 FeM at around INR 21,100/MT and Sponge iron fines of same grade at around INR 20,900/MT Ex-Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), according to trade sources.
Indian Sponge iron prices have remained stable owing to short supply of Iron ore from key Iron ore producing state, Odisha.
P-DRI & C-DRI Price Gap widens upto INR 2,000/MT
P-DRI (Pellet sponge) and C-DRI (Sponge iron) price gap has widened upto INR 2,000/MT in Central & Eastern India, which ideally should be INR 1,000-1,200/MT. Experts mentioned that with short supply of Iron ore, most of the Sponge iron manufacturers have shifted to Pellet, which has in turn increased supply of P-DRI in the market.
