Mongolia’s coal exports rise over 30%, m-o-m, in May on easing COVID-19 curbs

Mongolia’s coal exports in May’22 stood at 1.93 mnt, up by 34% m-o-m. The monthly rise in exports was mainly due to increased shipments to China, which increased by 42% with epidemic control measures easing at the border checkposts and the decline in number of COVID-19 cases. Meanwhile, Mongolia’s total coal output stood at 5.72 mnt in Jan-May, down 35% y-o-y.
