MMK : Galvanized Steel Shipments Hit Record High in CY19

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) shipped 1.286 MnT of galvanized steel in CY’19, the highest figure in the company’s history.

This was the second time when MMK broke its own record. In CY’18, the company shipped 1.269 MnT of galvanized steel, which at the time was also a record volume, up nearly 12% over the CY’17 figure.

Over the past 20 years, MMK has been consistently increasing production of high-margin products. In CY’02 and CY’08, the company commissioned two high-performance continuous hot-dip galvanizing lines with a capacity of 500,000 MT and 450,000 MT, respectively.

In CY’12, MMK commissioned the second stage of a cold-rolling unit, comprising continuous hot-dip galvanizing line, as well as a combined continuous annealing and hot-dip galvanizing aggregate. In Jul’17, MMK put into operation unit No.3 for continuous hot-dip galvanizing which has a capacity of 360,000 MT pa.

By investing into the development of facilities producing high-value added products, MMK has maintained its position as the largest Russian supplier of galvanized steel and is consistently named as the leader among coated metal producers in industry rankings.
