Ministry of Mines to Launch TAMRA Portal to Enhance Transparency in Mine Block Auctions

With an objective to speed up the mining activity in India and facilitate all stakeholders to track the status of statutory clearances associated with mining blocks, Union Minister of Mines (IC) Shri Piyush Goyal will launch TAMRA (Transparency, Auction Monitoring and Resource Augmentation) portal and mobile application tomorrow i.e. 10 Feb’17 in New Delhi.

TAMRA will be an interactive platform for all the stake holders to compress the timelines for statutory/other clearances, thus gestation period for commencing production will be minimized.

The portal and mobile application will cover block-wise, state-wise and mineral-wise information of the blocks to be auctioned,and will also highlight the additionality of resources generated through e-auction.

Status of mineral block auctions till date –

So far various state governments have been successful in concluding e-auction of 21 mineral blocks. The total estimated revenue to the state governments through the process of e-auction stands at INR 73,359 cr. Out of this, the cumulative Royalty, District Mineral Fund (DMF) and National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) contribution works out to be INR 15,825 crore (INR 14,130 crore, INR 1,413 crore and INR 283 cr respectively). Out of 21 mineral block auctions concluded so far, 8 were iron ore blocks.
