Metal stocks takes sensex to 1 yrs High

Sensex gained by over 0.65% to touch 18101.42 points, the lead was taken by the commodity stocks including metals and cement stocks.

Metal stocks including Hindalco Industries Ltd, Hindustan Copper Ltd and Hindustan Zinc Ltd gained by 1.75%, 2% and 1.2% respectively tracking the firmness on base metal complex on London Metal Exchange (LME). LMEX, a gauge of six metals traded on the LME gained by 1.13% on Tuesday, 13 July 2010.  Mining majors including Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd  and Gujarat Mineral Development Ltd (GMDC) gained by over 2% each on the BSE during early trading hours on Wednesday. Meanwhile, steel stocks remained dizzy with most stocks posting marginal gains on the bourses. Public sector steel maker, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) gained by 0.75%, while Jindal Steel & Power Ltd rose 0.55% on the BSE today. However, Tata Steel Ltd fared well compare to other steel stocks as the Tata group firm gained by over 1.2% on the BSE today. – SteelMint
