Kyrgyzstan: Govt extends six-month ban on ferrous scrap, waste and steel ingot exports

  • Ban extended from August 2026 to February 2027
  • Move aims to retain domestic ferrous scrap supplies

Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers has extended its ban on exports of ferrous metal scrap and waste, along with ferrous metal ingots for remelting, for another six months. The previous restriction, introduced under Resolution No. 117 on 18 February 2026, expired on 18 August 2026.

The new ban will remain in force for six months, from 19 August 2026 to 18 February 2027, covering products classified under EAEU Commodity Nomenclature Code 7204. The restriction is aimed at retaining scrap within the domestic market and ensuring adequate raw material availability for local processors.

The State Customs Service and Border Service have been instructed to prevent illegal exports, while the relevant ministries will notify the World Trade Organization, Eurasian Economic Commission and CIS Executive Committee of the measure.
