JSW’s Sales Up 37% in Long Steel, Down 4% in Flat Steel during FY16

JSW Steel reported its FY16 results, in which crude steel production slightly down by 1% and flat steel sales by 4%. But, long steel sales up by 37% against FY15.

JSW Steel yesterday declared its FY16 results. The company’s saleable long steel sales increased by 37% Y-o-Y to 2.71 MnT. However, saleable flat steel sales decreased by 4% Y-o-Y to 9.22 MnT.

Similarly, the company also reported crude steel production, which down slightly by 1% Y-o-Y to 12.56 MnT.

It seems that the company’s volumes in terms of production will going to increased in the current fiscal year as it has re-started its blast furnaces in Vijaynagar and Salem in Feb’16 and Dolvi in Mar’16, which were closed earlier.

After all these three furnaces started, the company’s installed capacity has increased by about 25% to 18 MnT pa from 14.3 MnT pa.

On a consolidated basis, the company’s domestic sales grew by 20% in FY16 on yearly basis and majorly contributed by retail sales by about 75% as it continues to enhance its retail network in India.
