India: JSW Iron Ore Sourcing Up 77% in Apr’19

JSW Steel – India’s largest steel maker recorded total iron ore sourcing at 2.71 MnT in Apr’19. The sourcing witnessed 77% rise M-o-M as against 1.53 MnT in Mar’19.

On yearly basis, sourcing witnessed 43% rise in Apr’19 as against 1.89 MnT in Apr’18.

Sourcing from Odisha up 14% in Apr’19

The steelmaker procured 0.26 MnT iron ore from Odisha based miners in Apr19, up 14% compared to Mar’19 sourcing at 0.23 MnT.

Towards the beginning of April’19 major Odisha merchant miners (including Rungta Mines & Serajuddin) offered discount on amid increased supply after fresh EC limit for the new fiscal year. Later at the end of month they had raised iron ore prices by merchant miners on the back of strong export bookings of low-grade iron ore fines made to China.

Sourcing from NMDC (C.G.) fell in Apr’19

JSW Steel (Dolvi) sourcing from NMDC recorded at 0.08 in Apr’19, down significantly as against 0.28 MnT a month before.

JSW iron ore purchases from Karnataka e-auction up more than two folds

JSW Steel’s iron ore purchases from Karnataka e-auctions increased by more than two folds to 2.18 MnT in Apr’19 compared to 1.02 MnT in Mar’19.

Out of 2.18 MnT iron ore sourced by JSW in Apr, Vedanta supplied 1.02 MnT and NMDC remained second –largest supplier for April’19 with 0.54 MnT up 50% as against last month at 0.36 MnT in Mar’19. Other private miners supplied 0.63 MnT for the month.
On yearly basis, Karnataka e-auction sales increased more than two-times in Apr’19 as compared to 1.3 MnT in Apr’18.

JSW Steel imported 0.19 MnT in Apr’19

JSW Steel imports recorded at 0.19 MnT in Apr’19 from Australia as against being nil a months before. JSW Steel picked up imports from Australia post resumption of ports after the cyclone Veronica towards Mar’19 end.
