JSPL’s Pellet Production Up 28% in Q2 FY17

Jindal Steel & Power has recently released its quarterly performance results for Q2 FY17. According to the quarterly report released, company’s pellet production was recorded at 1.61 MnT in Q2 FY17.

In the same time period last fiscal (i.e. Q2 FY16) the company produced 1.25 MnT pellets. Thus, on yearly basis, pellet production has gone up by 28%.

However on quarterly premises, JSPL’s pellet production is up by 3% as in Q1 FY17  the figure stood at 1.56 MnT.

JSPL performance highlights:

1. Steelmaker’s pellet production at 3.17 MnT in H1 FY17, up by 34% Y-o-Y. In H1 FY16, pellet production was at 2.37 MnT.

2. JSPL’s pellet sales (excluding Oman) grew by 83% Y-o-Y and was recorded at 0.73 MnT in Q2 FY 17 against 0.40 MnT in Q2 FY16.

3. JSPL becomes India’s largest pellet exporter in Q2 FY17. With continuous increase in pellet prices, JSPL increased its pellet production. Also pellet prices in global markets, during the quarter ranged USD 60-92/MT, CFR China.

4. As per customs data maintained with SteelMint, JSPL exported 0.55 MnT pellets in Q2 FY17.
