Jindal Steel & Power, having an installed steel capacity of 3 MnT, has not made any merchant sale of Pellets for the month April, 2014, according to data on iron ore/pellet movement being managed by SteelMint and Steel-360. Sources say since Sarda mines is closed due to environmental issues from 1 April,2014, the company is not offering Pellet for merchant sales.
The company has an installed capacity of 9 MnT Pellet in Barbil (Odisha), out of which 4.5 MnT is operating and another 4.5 MnT is under trial production. JSPL is one of the major suppliers of Pellet in open market. Almost 2 lakh tonnes is being sold every month.
