Sources confirmed that Jindal Steel and Power Ltd has invited applications from secondary steelmakers in order to set-up steel plants in Raigarh, Punjipatra that consume 200 MW power at a cost of INR 4.35/unit.
The company has revised the electricity charges to INR 4/unit (basic) on 1 Apr’16, which is lower than the state electricity tariff of INR 6.2/unit.
In order to take the advantage of surplus electricity, the company has recently got permission to set up steel plants, which will consume 200 MW of electricity. In this context, JSPL has received a positive responses as about 30-40 applications have been submitted to the total requirement of 400 MW electricity. The company will shortlist the applications and finalise the applicants. There are about 6-10 applications have been filed by Raipur based furnace owners.
As per sources, the criteria are as follows:
A. Deposit INR 15 lakh per Kilo watt
B. Electricity security deposit for 2 month average electricity consumption
C. Land cost 25 lakh per acre
D. Few other deposits and costs are also involved
JSPL spoke person are not ready to comment on the process at present.
