Japan:Flat steel Imports Edge up 9% in May’17

According to the latest customs data, Japan flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) have edge up by 9%, M-o-M basis to 0.38 MnT in May’17 as compared to 0.35 MnT in Apr’17.

If yearly comparison is made, then nation’s flat steel imports surged by 12% in May’17 in contrast to last year.In May’16 the same stood at 0.34 MnT.

Although during Jan-May’17,nation’s flat steel imports is assessed at 1.85 MnT ,rose by 6.3% against 1.74 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

Country-Wise Japan Flat Steel Imports in May’17-Korea stood as the major flat steel exporter to Japan and accounts for 70% in May’17 .Other major countries include Taiwan and China.
