Japan’s leading EAF mill – Tokyo Steel has today announced its first price hike for scrap purchase for May’21. Hike has been announced for all five plants by up to JPY 2,000/t ($18). The company would pay the price of JPY 46,000/t ($422) and JPY 44,000/t ($403) respectively for H2 scrap delivered at Tahara and Utsunomiya plants, effective from tomorrow (11th May’21). The domestic scrap price hike is in line with the hike in export offers and active Chinese buying interest.
