Japan: Met coke imports spurt 108% y-o-y in Jan’22

Met coke imports into Japan were recorded at 0.18 mnt, up 108% y-o-y and 6% m-o-m, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance. The country’s met coke imports saw a sharp increase y-o-y after Nippon Steel temporarily shut down its coke oven plants. China remained a prominent supplier to Japan with 0.12 mnt followed by India at 0.05 mnt in Jan’22.
