Japan: Iron ore imports drop 20% m-o-m in Sep’22

Japan’s iron ore (including pellets) imports decreased by 20% m-o-m to 7.43 mnt in Sep’22 from 9.32 mnt in Aug, as per customs data.
Australia was the top exporter with 4.32 mnt, followed by Brazil with 2.72 mnt.
Cumulative import volumes fell marginally by 6% to 79.60 mnt in Jan-Sep’22 as against 84.43 mnt in the year-ago period.
