According to the latest customs data, Japan flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) fell marginally by 3%,M-o-M basis to 0.33 MnT in Oct’17 in comparison 0.34 MnT in Sep’17.
However,on yearly basis, nation’s flat steel imports went down significantly by 15.3% in Oct’17.The same stood at 0.39 MnT in Oct’16.
During first ten months of CY17,nation’s flat steel import increased by 4% to 3.70 MnT against 3.53 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

South Korea was the preferred destination for flat steel imports from Japan in Jan-Oct’17- In the tenure of Jan-Oct’17 South Korea exported 2.50 MnT which contributed 67.56 % of share in first ten months of 2017.Besides this other importers of flat steel from Japan were Taiwan which stood at 0.78 MnT (accounted for 21.12% of share) and China at 0.40 MnT (contributes 10.75% of share) in Jan-Oct’17.
In the month of Oct’17,Japan has imported 0.23 MnT of flat steel,down by 4% M-o-M from 0.24 MnT in previous month.Other major countries include Taiwan which stood at 0.08 MnT and China at 0.02 MnT in the month of Oct’17.
