Japan: Finish Long Steel Exports Stable in Feb 2018

Japan, the world’s 2nd largest steel producer has reported firm its long steel exports in the month of Feb’18 on monthly premises.

As per the customs, the nation has exported about 190,000 MT Finish Long steel in Feb 2018 which is being similar against 190,000 MT in Jan 2018. On the contrary Y-o-Y, exports were fell by 10% against 210,000 MT in Feb’17.

Bar’s & Rods have contributed the major exports proportionate and registered at 130,000 MT (68.42%) followed by Angle and Shapes 40,000 MT (21%) and remaining was MS Wire 10,000 MT.

As per the SteelMint’s assessment in Feb 2018, the crude steel production of the Japan was around 8.3 MnT which has been dropped by around 8% M-o-M, against 9.03 MnT in Jan 2018.

Country wise:

In the month of February 2018, the largest importer of Finish Long Steel from Japan was South Korea – 60,000 MT, Thailand – 30,000 MT & China at 20,000 MT.

1. Japanese scrap Bids get lower by Yen 1000 for high grade put by Hyundai Steel for both Shredded and HS grade & are assessed at JPY 39,000/MT (USD 367), respectively.

2. Flat Steel Exports down by around 9% in Feb’18 on monthly basis.

3. Japan’s long steel import remained thin and are recorded at 0.05 MnT in Feb’18 as against at 0.05 MnT in Jan’18 & 0.03 MnT in Feb’17.
