Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) – Iran’s largest steel exporter last year has sharply raised its exports in this fiscal.
According to a report, a company official mentioned that KSC exported more than 1.22 MnT steel in first five months of Iranian FY18 (starting 21 March), up by 81% Y-o-Y.
Amid rising production, KSC has increased its steel exports. KSC reported production of over 1.55 MnT of slab, billet and bloom in first five months of this fiscal. Billet and bloom production summed up to 1 MnT and remaining share of 0.55 MnT was of slab.
KSC exports steel to 13 countries. Around 50% of its steel exports have been shipped to Middle East and North African region, followed by far east countries which contribute nearly 40% share in KSC steel exports. Remaining quantities have been exported to America.
Out of 5.53 MnT steel exported from Iran last year, KSC turned out to be the largest exporter at about 1.88 MnT followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC). The country aims to raise its exports to 8 MnT in this fiscal.
The country is targeting to raise its steel capacity to 55 MnT by 2025.
Billet export tender for 30,000 MT floated by KSC in Aug’17 was heard to have concluded around USD 495-500/MT, FoB Iran.
