Iran: DRI Production Up 19% in Current Persian year

Iran, one of the largest DRI producer in world has produced 12,857,000 MT DRI during the first six months of Persian year (21 Mar-22 Sep’18). The nation reportedly witnessed a growth of 19% Y-o-Y in production of DRI against 10,785,000 MT produced in last year.

Major DRI producers during the period were

1 – Mobarekah Steel was by far the largest manufacture of DRI in Iran during the current Persian year, the company produced 3,660,081 MT DRI, registered a downfall of 1% Y-o-Y.

2 – Khouzestan Steel was the second largest DRI producer during the current Persian year. The company produced 1,851,857 MT DRI in current year by registering a downfall of 11% Y-o-Y.

3 – Other major producers includes HOSCO (874,297 MT), South Kaveh Steel (787,180 MT), Khorasan Steel (649,643 MT) and Saba Steel (582,834 MT).

Billet and Bloom Production Increases by 22% Y-o-Y

Iran produced 6,801,000 MT of billet and bloom in first six months of current Persian year. Production was up by 22% Y-o-Y against 5,563,000 MT produced by nation in last year.

1 – Khouzestan Steel Company was the largest producer of billet and bloom in current Persian year, the company produced 1,103,839 MT of billet and bloom during the period, registered a downfall of 10% Y-o-Y.

2 – Esfahan Steel Company was the second largest producer of billet and bloom in current Persian year. The company produced 1,123,846 MT bloom in current Persian year, by registering a downfall of 1% Y-o-Y.

3 – Khorasan Steel was the third largest producer of billet and bloom, followed by South Kaveh Steel and Chadormalu with production of 502,630 MT billet, 479,137 MT billet and 433,854 MT.

Iran Slab Production by Major Companies Increases by 15% Y-o-Y

Iran produced 5,605,000 MT of slab during the current Persian year, the nation reportedly produced 15% more than last Persian year which was noted to be 4,879,000 MT.

1 – Mobarekah Steel Company was the largest producer of Slab during the current Persian year. The company produced 3,375,622 MT during the period, registered a growth of 7% Y-o-Y.

2 – Khouzestan Steel was the second largest producer of slab in the nation during the period. The company produced 805,739 MT of slab in current Persian year, registered a growth of 24% Y-o-Y.

3 – Hormozgan Steel, a subsidiary of MSC, was the third largest producer of slab in current Persian year, followed by Saba Steel. The companies produced 735,941 MT and 633,196 MT respectively with growth of 6% and 95% Y-o-Y respectively.
