Indonesian steam coal prices fall marginally

Indonesian thermal coal prices fell marginally on Wednesday,
following the general market downside trend. Availability of cheaper US coal, strong
US dollar and lackluster Chinese demand also supported the fall in prices.

Platts assessed the daily 90-day prices for FOB Kalimantan
5,900 kcal/kg GAR at $90.35/MT and 5,000 kcal/kg GAR at $70.40/MT, both down by 10
cents/MT.

A Shanghai-based trader said, “the strengthening of US
dollar has hurt demand from both India and China. But some buying interest
might be seen from India if Rupee strengthens to 50 or 51 against the Dollar.”
