The Ministry of Steel has extended the deadline for BIS certification of ferro silicon plants by six months from 23 Oct’21 to 23 Apr’22, as the process of inspection has been delayed due to travel restrictions from foreign countries. Twelve plants have received the conformance certification. Since India is a net importer of ferro silicon, this extension was highly expected.
