India’s Finish Steel Exports Up, Imports Down in September

According to provisional data released by Joint Plant Committee (Govt. of India) India’s crude steel rose marginally by 0.9% to 8.39 MnT in Sep’17 against 8.47 MnT in Aug’17.

In the tenure of (Apr-Sep’17) nation’s crude steel production assessed at 49.76 MnT inched up by 4.5% against similar time frame of previous year.

India’s finished steel exports spiked by 21% M-o-M in Sep’17
India’s finished steel exports moved up significantly by 21% M-o-M basis to 1.11 MnT in Sep’17 against 0.92 MnT in Aug’17. On yearly basis nation’s finished steel exports zoomed by 71% against Sep’’16.

So far in FY18 (till Sep’17) total finished steel exports increased 60% Y-o-Y to 4.85 MnT.

Finished steel imports to India decline 19% M-o-M in Sep’17-
In Sep’17 India imported 0.81MnT, decline by 19% against 1 MnT in Aug’17.However on yearly basis imports jumped by 32% over Sep’16.Although Indian finish steel import volumes have started falling but it has continued to maintain the status of net importer in Sep’17.

So far in FY18 (till Sep’17) total finished steel imports increased 21% Y-o-Y to 4.31 MnT.

India’s consumption of finished steel fall marginally by 1%M-o-M in Sep’17
Nation witnessed the marginal decline in consumption by 1%,M-o-M basis and was recorded at 7.449 MnT in Sep’17 against 7.416 MnT in Aug’17.However on yearly basis finished steel consumption increased by 4% in Sep’17 in contrast to Sep’16.

So far in FY18 (till Sep’17) total finished steel consumption was up by 4.3% to 42.88. MnT.
